Media Release by James Miller, Acting CEO, Light Regional Council.
Light Regional Council welcomes Thursday's announcement by the Federal Government regarding the roll out of the National Broadband Network. Through continued dialogue and demonstration of regional value to NBN Co, the Light Regional Council has secured a place within the 3 year roll out plan for a number of the Council's townships. The rollout of Fibre will occur in Freeling, Hewett and Roseworthy by late 2013 and Kapunda and Greenock by late 2015.
The NBN announcement provides a great opportunity for the Light Regional Community, not only to access fast internet but provide access to emerging online technology such a e-health and other online services. The development of the NBN will add further to our attractiveness as place to live, work and play and will reinforce the value of our industrial precincts such as Kingsford Regional Estate for manufacturing and mining support industries.
